Classes, Workshops & Events

I have been studying herbalism, foraging my own wild food, and making my own medicine for a decade, and I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned with the community.

My goal is to help people learn about and connect with the plants and their ecosystems in a fun, relaxed, joyful way. I am committed to making sure my classes are safe, welcoming spaces.

I offer hands-on educational workshops, classes, and plant walks at local farms, environmental organizations, and venues in northern New Jersey, the lower Hudson Valley, and eastern Pennsylvania. Check out my schedule below!

If your organization would like to partner with me to host a walk or workshop, please contact me here.

Herbalism for Beginners

The world of herbalism can be overwhelming when you’re just starting out, and one of the most frequent requests I get for a class is how exactly to start working with plants as medicine. We’re going to talk about how and why herbs work, their strengths and limitations, how to find reliable information on herbal medicine, where to source quality herbs, and what basic herbal preparations like tinctures, vinegars, compresses, and infusions actually are. We’ll also dive into a few gentle, beginner-friendly herbs to stock in your apothecary.

The Medicine of Invasive Plants

The Medicine of Invasive Plants

Invasive plants can present a serious challenge when it comes to the health of our ecosystems – they can crowd out plants that are beneficial to our pollinators, leading to a lack of biodiversity and even species decline.

And yet, plants like barberry, knotweed, purple loosestrife, and mugwort are some of our oldest medicines, and we are still discovering new ways they can support us.

In this class we’ll discuss the nuance around the concept of invasive plants and learn how we can work with them in a responsible way to support our own wellness. We’ll also discuss how we can be better stewards of the land around us and have a positive impact on our local ecosystems.
