Autumnberry Ramble

  • Wissahickon Trails 7000 Butler Pike Ambler, PA, 19002 United States (map)

The bad news: Autumn Olive (Elaeagnus umbellata) is an invasive shrub that can have a negative impact on our ecosystems.

The good news: we can eat them to beat them! The berries of Autumn Olive - also called Autumnberries or Japanese Silverberries - are incredibly abundant and delicious.

Bundle up and join us for a crisp fall walk as we learn how to identify, harvest, and prepare these tasty berries. We’ll meet a few other edible and medicinal plants along the way, too! Bring a container for your harvest!

Because this walk is generously hosted by Wissahickon Trails, it is completely free to attend and everyone is welcome. Wissahickon Trails is a wonderful organization that works to restore and protect the lands under their care - if you’d like to support them and make a donation, please do so here.

Registration opening soon!
